Pursuing Decentralization

"Academic Conference and Symposium Project”
Issue: Strategy to Success in Decentralized Model of Thai Educational Administration;
Human or System.

Held by: The Association for Professional Development in Educational Administration of
Thailand {APDEAT}.

Date and Place: December 19 – 20, 2007 at Prince Palace Hotel, Bangkok.

Participants: About 500 Participants coming from every part of Thailand
both official organizations and private ones.

Main points:
It seems the educational decentralization in our country is still not progress.
This is because;
- Many schools have no readiness
- The Schools are as a part of the bureaucracy
- The schools are under the same policies and so on.
Nevertheless, it looks nowadays; the schools have already gained more
liberties in both academic management and general management.
Meanwhile, both budget management and personnel management still
depend on centralization. Educational leaders have to struggle seriously in
order to get independence at all.

Special activity: We also selected the board of APDEAT in the evening of December 19.
Brief results;
Dr.Thira Roonchareon , as the president.
Dr.Kitima Prideedilok , as the secretary.
And our professors of PSU, Dr.Somkiat Phuangrod as well as Dr.Prasert Bandisak, as the committee.
