Road to ASEAN

On behalf of Thai people, we congratulate to Dr.Surin Pitsuwan who is going to be as the Secretary of Association of Southeast Asian Nations {ASEAN}in next year. As I referred in “A Letter of Interest” an essay that I applied to East West Center for the seminar participating, he is a sophisticated person who always desires to improve our society. He indeed want to see our area gain more peace and progress.

For his new duty, in my perspective it is accordance with a part quote of article in Observer {East West Center News} that wrote;

“Whether in business, government, education or community
There is an urgent need for leaders
- who understand global regional issues,
- who have international networking capabilities,
- and who embrace flexibility, innovation and constructive change.”

All of these qualifications I deem Dr.Surin is available and suitable for our Asian leader.

Human Values at Sathya Sai

In fact, I had just heard the best model of this school since I studied with Dr.Prasert
Bandhisak last year. He gave us an abstract to read about the teaching method at Sathya Sai School. It enthusiastically caused me to imagine how could I get there in order to encounter with their students.

It was fortunately that we had a study tour program to see the best school management in the middle part of Thailand ;

February 5, 2005 : to visit Sathya Sai School in Lopburi Province.
February 6, 2005 : to visit Wat Saneha School and Mahidolwithyanusorn
School in Nakhornpathom Province.

February 7, 2005 : to visit Somdet Phrapiya Maha Raja Romaniyakhet School
in Kanchanaburi Province.

Again, I had to focus at Sathya Sai School. My colleague and I reached here in the
early morning so that we could see the pattern of their real lives. For praying to their
almighty God, both students and teachers awake up at 05.00 o’clock everyday before
they enter to the class or to do together in some activities. They shared in the same feeling and perceived about human values at first. And this was my first impression in
this field study.

By the way, It was a coincidence, while we was staying here there was a study tour group from University of Hawai’i Manoa {USA} as well.
